Pre-set "Creative Zones" actually take ALL of your creativity away!

I've often wondered why the term "Creative Zones" was given to the little dial on most cameras that allow users to switch from one pre-set group of options, to the another. 

 

Fake it till you make it - OR NOT?

A lot of you may have heard the old phrase "Fake-it till you Make-it".

 

That may hold true in some industries but not necessarily in the photography industry.   You may find it will hurt you more than help you.

 

If you have a camera and you love taking photos, that doesn't make you

"Photo Sessions $40"

Occasionally I surf Craigslist and other online classifieds.  It never fails..  when I click "Creative Services" or "Creative Gig's" etc., I am inundated with the "Mom n Pop"-arazzi photographers claming to be "Professional Photographers".

 

PhotoShop - Must Do!

In 1998 I watched a Photographer friend of mine open a program called PhotoShop on his PC and proceed to re-touch a photo that he had just scanned.  Immediately, I thought to myself..  "It's impossible to take a bad photo now".  - I wasn't completely correct with that thought though.

 

Lighting Tip - Put the lights where you want them

Here's a tip about lighting and lighting gear:  Being able to put the lights where you want them, hold them there safely, securely, repeatably, and being able to fine-tune their position is just as important as using good quality lighting gear.  For some purposes, it's more important.
